In 2015 FIFA introduced a new set of regulations on working with agents. The importance of the new regulations is rather limited but there are few new provisions which you at least should be aware of.
Although the local federations can impose a maximum duration, FIFA itself does not impose a maximum duration for representation contracts. This means that you should always be careful to double check the exact duration in agent contracts. Furthermore, new regulations require that the contracts should contain a termination clause. This is also very relevant as this clause provides for the possibilities to “escape” from your contract. If things do not work out well with the agent, it is important that you are able to terminate the contract so don’t end up being a prisoner of an unwanted contract.
